There are currently 2 versions of the SMART Linux LiveCD (with more to come).  Both versions have been carefully crafted to provide a solid foundation on which to evaluate SMART and conduct a wide range of forensic activities.  Each version contains several hundred megabytes of configured, customized and tuned applications and documentation specifically designed to support forensic activities.

One Size Does Not Fit All
The Slackware based LiveCD uses the 2.6 kernel and supports loading the CD to RAM and ejecting the CD after boot.
The Ubuntu based LiveCD uses the 2.6 kernel and has support for newer hardware.  Both provide support for multiple languages including French, German, Spanish and Portugese.
There are Chinese, Japanese and Russian versions available too!

Which one is right for you?
Both.
While the Ubuntu based version is newer and sexier, the Slackware version has been around much longer and has proven itself to be versatile, stable and reliable.  Rarely, one version of the LiveCD will fail to boot a system due to hardware compatibility issues or memory constraints.
This is when having options comes in handy.
